The First Games of Thrones Season 2 Teaser Trailer “Shadow” Arrives!

HBO has posted the first teaser trailer for the second season of the critically acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones. This one-minute-and-seven-second long taste provides a sample of several tense scenes (and a fair few that can be missed if you so much as blink!) along with a mouthful of dialogue oozing with the foreshadowing of events to come. Moments of particular interest are Lady Stark pointing a dagger at Littlefinger, Joffrey threatening to kill Sansa, and perhaps most intriguing of all, Varys telling Tyrion “the imp” Lannister that “…A very small man can cast a very large shadow.” Hmm…

Now, I am admittedly a new traveler in the realm of Westeros, but I’m just as hooked as any veteran of the series. In fact, I’ve just picked up the first book in order to help satiate my burgeoning obsession with George R. R. Martin’s epic world. I know many fans of the TV series have decided not to read the books on purpose– solely to avoid spoilers of what’s to come, for fear of the show losing it’s shock value. So I have a question for you long-time book fans (before the existence of the HBO adaptation) and recent viewers of the show who have decidedly taken it upon themselves to read the original source material– does knowing what will happen ruin the enjoyment of the program’s plot twists, or do you anticipate the pages of the book being brought to life? For myself, I’m certainly hoping for the latter!

Game of Thrones season two premiers on HBO April 1st.
