The Red Skull Might Be Alive, but He Won’t be in The Avengers

The Red SkullOne of the lingering questions I couldn’t stop thinking about after watching Captain America was whether or not the Red Skull had actually died at the end. Being a major villain to The Cap and a huge character in the Marvel Universe, chances were highly likely he would return.

Recently, Marvel President Kevin Feige talked to Empire about whether or not Red Skull is still alive and if fans can expect to see him in The Avengers.

“Was Skull vaporized at the end of the movie, or thrust into another realm? That remains to be seen. It would be fun to see Skull in the future, but he’s not in this one.”

We here at Nerd Reactor do believe that the Red Skull was in fact transported to another dimension. If you watch the scene in question in Captain America, before the Red Skull disappears into nothingness, we get a quick look at what is most likely another galaxy. It’s likely one of the nine realms.

Kevin Feige also put to rest the Skrull rumors, hopefully for the last time, when Empire asked about what mysterious alien race The Avengers would be facing.

“Who said they were aliens?…It’s not Skrulls, I’ve been clear about that. Beyond that, we want to hide it. The identity of the alien race is not impactful. It exists in the comic books, but we’re not setting up the Kree-Skrull war or anything like that.”

There are still rumors flying around about a second villain. So far, many believe it might be Thanos, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
