Nintendo Weekly Download: Zen Pinball 3D, Hip Hop King: Rytmik Edition

The latest Nintendo update brings us pinball and hip hop. You thought they’d never get together, but you were oh so wrong. Well, unfortunately they’re only together as separate offerings, but we’ll realize that dream someday.

Possibly the most noticeable release is Zen Pinball 3D. While its boards are generically themed, they are fairly detailed and have a lot of moving parts. The four boards are Excalibur, El Dorado, Shaman, and Earth Defense. It’s a bit early to tell, but it looks like it’ll end up with a good Metacritic score. It’s currently at an 81 from seven reviews. It’s only available on 3DS.

For our second game, we have “Hip Hop King: Rytmik Edition“, which, according to the official Nintendo site, is “an application for creating rhythmical and melodic themes and for composing whole songs.” If you happen to have two 3DS systems, feel free to put that hip hop where it doesn’t belong: Zen Pinball 3D. Do it, for the rest of us. For more information and a video of Hip Hop King, go here. It’s available on DSi and 3DS.

If your math skills have deteriorated beyond your parents’ comprehension, or you had none to begin with, you might want to consider playing “Carmen Sandiego Adventures in Math: The Case of the Crumbling Cathedral“. Follow Carmen around the world as she somehow increases your mathematical adeptness via the power of falling cathedrals. You can find this game on WiiWare.

For another take on pinball, there is one with an overhead view and slightly simpler graphics: 101 Pinball World for DSi and 3DS. Check out the video below:
