Top 10 Pirated Movies of 2011! Guess Who’s Number #1?

2011 is almost wrapped up, and as we take a look back at another year in geek-dom, all we have are the memories and some illegally downloaded movies. Torrent Freak has recently released their list of the Top 10 Pirated Movies of 2011. 2011 being a pretty good year in movies, it’s interesting to see what makes the cut and how it reflects on the taste of cheap-ass movie lovers.

Drum roll please………………..

….and there you have it. Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2011 Top 10 Most Pirated Films of the Year.

It’s quite an interesting list. There are a lot of big titles, and even 2 Oscar nominees in the mix. I never thought I would ever have to type “The King’s Speech” and “The Hangover 2” in the same sentence.

Some notably missing big titles are Captain America, X-Men: First Class, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Transformers: Dark of the Moon and The Green Lantern. Maybe fans heard how horrible The Green Lantern was and decided to stay clear of it. We can only hope. Still, Sucker Punch was downloaded 7 million times. I can’t even imagine how disappointed those people were when the file had finished downloading.

The list doesn’t really coincide with top box-office revenue or even the films overall rating, so it’s kind of weird to see how these films have made the top 10. Last year’s “winner” was Avatar, with 16 million, which is almost double the downloads that Fast Five has.

Well, congratulations to Fast Five on being the most downloaded movie of 2011.

I wonder who will take the Top spot next year? The Dark Knight Rises? Prometheus? The Avengers? Stay tuned.
