‘Batman: Arkham City’ Gets Launch Trailer and Rave Reviews

We all know Batman: Arkham City is going to be an awesome game, but sometimes we just need that extra push to get us all excited. What better way than the release of the launch trailer and news of the game getting top reviews!

The launch trailer focuses on story, as we hear Hugo Strange giving Batman a hard time.

The reviews are in and it’s getting me all hyped up. One stuck out in particular, saying that the game is a billion times better. That’s saying a lot, because Arkham Asylum was the best superhero game and one of the best games of 2009.

  • OXM 9/10: “A different Arkham, but excellent all the same”.
  • Destructoid 8.5/10: “When it’s all said and done, you’ll be begging for more, but not because there wasn’t enough. It is just too damn fun to be The Bat”.
  • Metro 9/10: “Not just the best superhero game, but one of the greatest action adventures ever made – set in an expansive and engrossing virtual world unlike any other”.
  • IGN 9.5: “Batman: Arkham City isn’t just better than Batman: Arkham Asylum, it’s better than most games on the market”.
  • Giant Bomb 5/5: “Gaming’s greatest melee combat system gets even better with a few key improvements, while the rest of Arkham City gives the existing Batman formula some extra size and scope to keep things interesting”.
  • Telegraph 5/5: “Huge, dark and fearsomely satisfying, Batman Arkham City is a magnificently constructed second outing for Rocksteady’s unique vision of the Dark Knight”.
  • Joystiq 4.5/5: “Rocksteady has made the greatest Batman game ever crafted, and they’ve done that before. But breathing life into a staggeringly beautiful world; one which hums not only with opportunity, but ambition? That’s a new trick altogether”.
  • G4TV 5/5: “Batman: Arkham City is one of the greatest games ever made. Period”.
  • Eurogamer 9/10: “First they gave us a hero; now they’ve given us his ideal playground. And along the way, they crossed off one of the trickiest entries on my own personal to-do list: an entry that’s right there in between Meet Ty Pennington and Finish that Robert Musil book. Become Batman. Done”.
  • Videogamer 10/10: “Dizzyingly extensive and lovingly detailed, Rocksteady has created an intricate, spirited and unequalled playground worthy of one of the most iconic characters in modern fiction”.
  • GamesRadar 10/10: “Batman: Arkham Asylum was the greatest superhero game of all time. The sequel, Batman: Arkham City, is five times bigger and about a billion times better. You do the math”.
  • GameTrailers 9.3/10

Batman: Arkham City will be out next week on October 18, 2011, for Xbox 360 and PS3.
