‘War for Cybertron’ Gets Sequel – ‘Transformers: Fall of Cybertron’

When I think about that one Transformers game that translates how awesome being an Autobot or Decepticon is, the honor would have to go to Transformers: War for Cybertron. The graphics, the transformation, the history, the gameplay, and everything else just gave me a giant nerdgasm. High Moon Studios is the team responsible for the game, and now they’re hard at work on the sequel. Today, Activision has announced that the sequel is coming in Fall 2012 called Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

Game Informer magazine will have a feature/cover story on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron when it comes out to newsstands on October 14, 2011. Check out the cover images below featuring Optimus Prime and Grimlock, the leader of the Dinobots. The limited edition cover features Bumblebee fallen, with Prime holding him.

Now that I think about it when looking at these artworks for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, I so wish that the next Transformers movies would be more faithful to the looks of the Transformers. You can still make them badass while maintaining their signature look that fans have grown up with.

“High Moon Studios is an extremely talented development team having raised the bar of gameplay and TRANSFORMERS authenticity in their games,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing.  “TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON is an extraordinary project both for the studio and the TRANSFORMERS gaming legacy — the stakes are higher and the scale much larger than ever before, and we absolutely cannot wait for fans to see all the new characters and epic action that awaits them.”

“Hasbro has worked hand in hand with Activision to create a fully original storyline that details the climactic battles leading to the famed exodus of the TRANSFORMERS characters from CYBERTRON,” said Mark Blecher, SVP of Digital Media and Marketing, Hasbro.  “Our team at Hasbro is looking forward to exploring and expanding the TRANSFORMERS story again with an incredible blockbuster video game that will blow fans away next year.”
