Battlefield 3 Beta Open to All, Come September 29th

This Fall is going to be an intense one for the publishers and developers who are awaiting consumer judgement. In general there is quite a bit of competition, but this Fall looks to have some of the fiercest in recent memory. Battlefield 3 is set to be unleashed upon the world this October 25th, which is less than two weeks ahead of its major rival, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (November 8th); but whose online mode will reign supreme?

EA has just announced that the Battlefield 3 beta will be available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this September 29th. There will be one featured map for the beta, Operation Metro, with 8 maps total for the final release. Each map in the final release will contain 5 different modes of play.

How Battlefield 3’s beta goes could determine a lot in the next month and a half. If it goes extremely well, it could mean that some players will completely forgo any calls to duties. If it goes poorly though, it could spell disaster for EA and its underdog franchise.

Who knows, maybe this whole rivalry thing has been overblown, and fans can enjoy both for their differences in features, weapons, and map styles; or is that just wishful thinking?

Check out EA’s official site for more info on the beta.
