‘Contagion’ Tops Box Office while ‘Bucky Larson’ Was Born to be a Dud

Contagion now takes the top spot during this weekend’s box office with $23.1 million across 3,900 screens. Even though it’s number one, the budget was an estimated $60 million, and it’s looking like it’ll be a little while before it gets some return. Maybe 9/11 and football had something to do with it.

The Help has been on top of the box office for 25 days now. Is it a sign that I should watch the movie? The lovely Emma Stone is in it you know. The Help goes down one spot, taking in $8.7 million. That’s a $14.4 million gap right there from first to second. It has now grossed $137 million, with a budget of $24 million. I’d say the movie was a good investment.

Warrior, starring Tom Hardy and a movie I’m looking forward to watching, premiered in third place with $5.6 million, even after the positive reviews. And I thought MMA is the fastest growing sport. Maybe fans of MMA aren’t into a good underdog story?

Let’s not for about Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star, a movie about Bucky trying to get into the porn industry. It opened in 15th place with $1.4 million. I mean, just look at the trailer below. If that doesn’t make you want to spend money on the movie, then I don’t know what will.
