Lenovo’s former President becomes AMD’s new CEO

It seems all the tech companies seem to be shifting around their higher ups these days. AMD today announced that Rory Read will be appointed as AMD’s new Chief Executive Officer replacing Thomas Seifert. His resume seems very impressive. According to AMD’s biography page, he’s been the CFO of Chinese Computer maker, Lenovo, helping to put Lenovo as one of the world’s fastest PC manufacturers. Before that almost 23 years at IBM in various positions. What could this mean for the chip maker? I’m hoping they’ll bring back some dominance against Intel, whose been sweeping the rug with its Sandy Bridges. On the other hand, AMD’s focus on its APUs seems well received for its exceptional integrated graphics performance. I wish AMD new success with its new CEO.
