Rockstar <del>Games</del> FILMS

Take-Two, the company behind Rockstar Entertainment, has registered the trademark for Rockstar Films. What does this mean? Throw in a little bit of Grand Theft Auto, some good acting, and viola – masterpiece theater!

“Animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children’s and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children’s and documentary themes.”

The trademark was registered back in December of 2010, and only now discovered by SystemLink Alt. They spotted both RockstarFilms.com and RockstarFilms.net being owned by Take-Two.

Now trademarking is not a big thing for companies. It is standard operating practice to protect and/or invest in themselves for future projects. With the eerie success of L.A. Noire and the hype of its massive audience game-changing style, could this suggest that Take-Two is controlling the reigns for a Rockstar Films Noire project? It would be cool to see. A George A. Romero version of Red Dead Redemption zombie horde film would be gnarly. Who knows, maybe GTA 2, the film, will be better than the first and win six Oscars (mirroring The Godfather: Part II). I am going to go stock up on some movie ticket packs before inflation, and taxes rise again so I can afford this in the future.
