John Carter of Mars is Changing His Name

Looks like the suits are scared of the title of Andrew Stanton’s (Finding Nemo) John Carter of Mars movie. The title is now just John Carter…without the Mars. It just doesn’t have the same effect. Oh sure, we can have a name like Flash Gordon by itself, but that name is flashy already. John Carter of Mars is suppose to be like Lawrence of Arabia, where he goes to a distant land and does something important enough for us to call them that title. Just imagine if they did a Lawrence of Arabia remake and just call the movie “Lawrence”.

For those that don’t know, John Carter is a tale of a civil war vet who goes into Mars, meets a babe and partners with with a four-armed green alien.

Plain John Carter will hit theaters on March 9, 2012 with Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, and Bryan Cranston starring.
