Nintendo 3DS Falls Short

According to AkihabaraNews, Nintendo’s CEO Satoru Iwata expected to sell at least 4 million units by the end of its fiscal year, but they only sold 3.61 million. This left a gap on its Actual vs Expected Revenue. When the 3DS was released in February in Japan and March for the US/EU market, it had a great customer influx; they were mostly early adopters and console fanatics. Nintendo’s CEO is keeping his head held high and is expecting this upcoming summer to be a summer for handhelds. Two reasons why he has a bright outlook on this summer: customers will have an increased knowledge of the 3D capabilities (no glasses required). AkihabaraNews also states that the 3DS can give some users nausea with similar effects experienced with binge drinking.
