New Silent Hill: Downpour Screens

Here are some new screenshots for Silent Hill: Downpour, featuring more creepy environments from the world of Silent Hill. In the game, you play a prisoner whose transport vehicle gets derailed and is now stranded in the mysterious town. In the game, you’ll explore the southeastern region, which the previous games never explored.

The thing that I like most about the Silent Hill games are the fact that the main characters aren’t soldiers or fighters, so let’s hope that this “prisoner” isn’t going to be an expert in weaponry or hand-to-hand combat.

Silent Hill: Downpour is being developed by Vatra Games and published by Konami. Akira Yamaoka will not return as composer for the game, but the composer for Dexter, Daniel Licht, will be handling the score. And if you’ve listened to the score for Dexter, it’s very fitting for the world of Silent Hill. It’s expected to be released in late 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Looking at these screenshots, it does remind me of Alan Wake.
