Blood Vampire Anime Reimagined with CLAMP Design

Production I.G. announced the BLOOD-C project, a reimagined take on the Blood: The Last Vampire saga. The original movie made a splash on the vampire scene back in 2000. The concept involved huge monsters derived from the bat species Chiroptera hunted down by a school girl wielding a katana sword. Since then the concept of badass school girls proliferated into characters like Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill and most recently Babydoll from Sucker Punch.

What makes this new BLOOD-C project special is the collaboration with all-female manga artist group CLAMP, famous for their works like X, Code Geass, and Chobits. The BLOOD-C project is set for a TV series to be aired in Japan starting July 2011 and also a theatrical feature film slated for 2012. The TV series will be directed by Tsutomu Mizushima who also worked on another Production I.G. / CLAMP collaboration xxxHOLiC – A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
