New Super 8 IMAX Release Trailer

Here’s the newest trailer for J.J. Abram’s Super 8 promoting its IMAX release. The trailer shows more scenes, we know it’s a monster, but still no clue to what it looks like. Whatever it is, you do not want to be in that town when all hell breaks loose.

All we know for now is that there’s a train that gets derailed. The monster is pounding from the inside, as if it’s trying to escape. And the next thing you know, the whole town near the train crash goes crazy with missing people and cars flying. Oh, and we can’t forget about the explosions. I’m definitely thinking it’s some government conspiracy with the military being all secretive.

The thing I really dig is the Steven Spielberg vibe with the whole kid’s angle during the 80s.

Also in Super 8 News, Paramount yesterday showed off 20 minutes of Super 8 to a bunch of journalists at the Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater. J.J. Abrams was also there and said, “I want this to be a secret between you and me.” Funny guy. Saying this to a room full of journalists is like telling a porn actress to stop kneeling. The footage they saw was the beginning, with the kids filming and then the train crashing. We get to see how the kids are in relationship to each other, with one of the boys having a crush on the girl that volunteered to be in their movie.

Super 8 opens in theaters on June 8, 2011.
