Angry Birds Taking Over Everything – Movies, Comics, Cartoons, Facebook

Angry Birds has been gaining momentum, and with 20 million downloads on iPhone and iPod Touch, they’re ready to take over the world.

In an interview with Wired UK, Rovio talks about the beginnings of Angry Birds. For those of you who think Rovio is some kind of lucky over-night success, realize that Angry Birds is their 52nd game that they’ve developed. Now that they’ve struck gold, Rovio is slowly unraveling their plans for world domination.

One of their next steps is to make some sort of Facebook game this year in which the pigs have a more prominent role.  Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio says that there “…will be completely new aspects to it that just haven’t been experienced on any other platform.”

If having Angry Birds on iPhone and Facebook isn’t enough for you, perhaps a movie will sate you. Yes, Rovio is working on getting comics, cartoons, and even movies made based on their hit downloadable title.  Mikael compares their Angry Birds beginning to Disney: “Look at how Disney got started…Steamboat Willie created Mickey Mouse, then they added more characters. You can see the same pattern today, but everything is happening much, much faster. Other brands used to build recognition over the course of decades. We’ve done it in one year.”

Get ready, world.
