PlayStation Home Downloaded 19 Million Times, Multiplayer on the Horizon

Sony has just announced that PlayStation Home has been downloaded more than 19 million times since its launch in December of 2008.  Home director, Jack Buser, states that the average Home session lasts for about 70 minutes. The lure of virtual items are becoming quite popular, with the amount available growing by 110% in the past year.

The developers of Home are to be given real-time multiplayer tools which will allow them to create core multiplayer action games.  Scheduled to launch this spring is Version 1.5 of the Home core client which will allow for the creation of a fast-action first-person shooter, and racing games with the release of PS3 MMO-lite. Sodium 2: Project Velocity is due out this Spring on Home for PS3.
