Guitar Hero Getting Axed

Possibly one of the largest franchise back in 2005, the game created such a huge buzz among fans for being the first game using a guitar licensed in America. The game would be followed with five more main Guitar Hero titles and a dozen of side tracks that included Van Halen, Green Day, and Metallica. This would lead to the Guitar Hero store were you could buy DLC tracks to play on GH, which massively increased profits for Activision.

The Guitar Hero franchise was at the top, but after so many GH games there can only be so much fans can deal with, and the franchise has been steadily declining to the point this statement was made.

“Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011,”

So Guitar Hero fans, GH5 will be your last title, and will Rock Band be next?
