CES 2011: Verbatim

Verbatim brings its focus to 3 categories at CES 2011; Portable Peripheral Accessories, Flash Drives, and  Portable Hard Drives. Under those 3 categories they have produced a slew of products for the year of 2011.

In their Portable Peripheral Accessories category; Verbatim has various wireless optical mice and mini wireless optical mice, but one of their bigger things to be introduced is the Bluetooth Wireless iPad Foldable Keyboard. The keyboard is designed to be a portable solution for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch users to type quicker and with ease. The keyboard also enables interaction with iTunes music playback directly from the keyboard’s media console. This comes with a iPhone stand and carrying case for portability uses.

In their Flash Drives category; they have the Netbook USB Drive, a 64GB Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXC) Memory Card, a USB 3.0 External SSD, Store ‘n’ Go 3.0 Flash Drive, and a 2.5” SATA II SSD.

The Netbook USB Drive is a lightweight flash drive that is about the size of a quarter and only protrudes 5 mm when plugged into a USB port. The drive was designed to be a space saving USB drive instead of protruding out and taking up too much space like normal USB flash drives. This new drive works with Windows, Mac, and Linux OS and comes in 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB sizes. There is also a special Car Audio USB edition that is specifically made for use with automotive applications and comes in an 8GB size.

The 64GB Secure Digital Extended Capacity (SDXC) Memory Card is only compatible with SDXC host devices. The SDXC memory card is compatible with SDXC devices supporting High Speed Bus Interface (Class 10 speed rated) and UHS-1 (Ultra High Speed) Bus Interface that allows transfer rates of up to 104MB/s. This new memory card also supports HD video recording and photography.

The Store ‘n’ Go 3.0 Flash Drive is an upgrade of the USB 2.0 flash drives we’ve had and grown accustomed to. The Store ‘n’ Go 3.0 works with Windows, Mac, and Linux OS and can be used with USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports. This flash drive supports transfer rates of up to 100MB/s, has a retracting design to protect the connector; and comes in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Verbatim also has a lifetime warranty for this product so if anything ever happens you at least know it’s protected under warranty within reasonable bounds.

Verbatim brings to the SSD table the USB 3.0 External SSD and 2.5” SATA II SSD. The USB 3.0 External SSD supports transfer rates of up to 190 MB/s when used with the USB 3.0 host system. This External SSD utilizes 8-channel I/O, is designed for lightning-fast transfers, and is an ideal choice for data-intensives operations. This drive is offered in sizes ranging from 32GB to 128GB and also has a Limited Lifetime Warranty. The 2.5” SATA II SSD is intended to be a replacement for laptops. This SSD provides data transfer rates up to 250MB/s READ speed and 220 MB/s WRITE speed.  The 2.5” SSD provides faster system boot up, better system response, improved battery life, and increased shock resistance over HDD equipped systems. This SSD comes in sizes ranging from 64GB to 256GB and has 5 year warranty.

In the Portable Hard Drives category, Verbatim has the Titan XS SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and the Store ‘n’ Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0/FW 800. The Titan XS SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is one of the smallest external hard drives in the industry and includes Nero BackItUp & burn software for full system backup and restore. The external hard drive itself is housed in a shock-resistant rubber enclosure that protects against rough-and-tumble use and is 500GB in size. This version of the Titan XS is also 10 faster than the USB 2.0 version. The Store ‘n’ Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0/FW 800 is HFS+-formatted specifically for the Mac operating system and features both USB 3.0 and Firewire800interfaces and is compatible with all MacBook models. This drive comes in 500GB size.
