The First Windows/Android Dual OS Tab: The ViewSonic ViewPad 10
As with everyone and their mother, electronics manufacturer ViewSonic has entered the tablet race. Although the tablet market seems like it is being flooded with the same technology over and over, ViewSonic throws a new innovation into the mix that can possibly be a game-changer. I give you ViewPad 10, the first dual OS tablet that runs both Windows and Android. Go ahead and take a second to let that settle. Yes, we’ve seen computers and laptops dual boot with Windows and Linux or Windows and Mac OSX, but who would have ever thought Windows and Android? Apparently ViewSonic had it in mind and it will be running Windows Home 7 premium and Android 1.6. The ViewPad 10 is slightly larger than the iPad, as it measures in at 10.1 inches while the iPad is at 9.7 inches. It will be running on the Intell Atom 1.66 GHz processor, have 1GB of RAM, a 16GB SSD hard drive and an expandable microSD slot. There also is a 1.3 megapixel webcam with a built-in microphone for videoconferencing. The ViewPad 10 will debut early next year with the price of $629. A 7 inch version called the ViewPad 7 will be released at the end of this year, but will not be a dual OS. It will instead however be running on the Android 2.2 OS platform and will retail for $479.
