Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light PS3 REVIEW

Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light is very similar to the other Lara Croft games. She is still on the hunt for treasures and other worldly artifacts. This time she’s in search of the artifact Mirror of Smoke, located in the ruins of the Temple of Light. But as she gets too close to her objective, she is ambushed by mercenaries who have stolen the mirror and released an ancient evil. Aside from the evils being released, an unlikely ally Totec, The Guardian of Light, joins Lara in stopping these evil from destroying the world.

The game itself is vastly different from when I last played Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. The graphics, of course, were much more advanced since I played it for the PS1. There were a few drawbacks in my opinion, and that is the camera angle. It takes a zoomed out view and almost an overhead view at times. It took a while to get used to, at least for me. After that it became pretty easy to deal with.

As for the game play, it was very similar to the past games, which is find items and solve puzzles and of course shoot bad guys. The surroundings and the level is much more tremendous than the other past game. Searching in the stage/level is pretty fun; just going around and collecting treasures. Throughout the game there are multiple puzzles to get through as well as baddies to fight. This game gave me hours of fun and hours of anguish; some of the puzzles were mind boggling. But overall it was fun and exciting.

This game has something for everyone: action, suspense, excitement and shooting. This game is also the first Lara Croft game that features Cooperative Multiplayer, Coop-petition, and download only game. Coop multiplayer is just as it says. It’s a multiplayer mode where you play together, one as Lara and the other Totec. And Coop-petition is 2 player battle for the most kills of baddies; you can either work together or forget friendships and do every man for themselves. If you have the money, have a gift card for PSN, or can talk someone into buying it for you, get it. It’s fun and you’ll enjoy it.
