DS Price Drops May Hint At 3DS Price

Like many E3 goers found out, holding a 3D gaming system in your hands is pretty awesome.  When you put on top of that all of the developers that are interested in making games for the 3DS, there’s a lot to look forward to.

Nintendo has just announced that starting on September 12th the DSi will drop to $150, and the DSi XL to $170 (a $20 price drop for each).  The DS Lite won’t be getting a price drop, but will remain at $130.  What does this have to do with the 3DS though?  Well, Nintendo wouldn’t want its brand new system to cost the same amount as their older systems, right?  Nintendo is planning on announcing the price of the 3DS on September 29th, and it seems obvious that they’re dropping prices on the DS systems in preparation for that.  My guess is that the 3DS will be $199.99, and hopefully not a cent more.
