More Than 1 Million StarCraft II Copies Sold on Day One

It’s good to be Blizzard right now. By selling more than a million copies of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, it has become the best-selling PC game of 2010. By 48 hours, it has become the fastest-selling strategy game of all time by selling more than 1.5 million copies. But you have to note that the game launch had a simultaneous release worldwide in North America, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. What? No North Korea. Did Kim Jong-il do something wrong? Even dictators need a day off to relax by killing off some Zergs.

StarCraft II has been getting a lot of good buzz and excellent reviews.

“Traditional and fresh in all the right ways, this strategy sequel is an absolute joy for veterans and newcomers alike.” – Gamespot

“The best thing about it is the presentation, though; only Blizzard can make an RTS feel like an epic adventure.” – Firing Squad
