New Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, Feels Like Rockstar But Sad for Norton

Out with the Norton, and in with the Ruffalo. Mark Ruffalo’s entry into the Marvel movie universe at Comic-Con had to be the biggest Avengers news since the whole fallout between Marvel Studios and Edward Norton. I wonder if Edward Norton was among the crowd. Entertainment Weekly talked to Mark at Comic-Con on his venture into the big Marvel world.

It was very exciting — and I realized I had some pretty big shoes to fill. Those were my heroes up there! I was a comic book fan growing up. I loved The Hulk and The Avengers — it’s just strange to be entering that world as an actor. I never would have imagined that before.

Big shoes, literally. Mark then talks about his first appearance at Comic-Con.

I was very, very nervous. I didn’t know what to expect. That’s as close you’re going to get to being a rock star as an actor. The fans — they have very strong feelings toward their comic book heroes.

But yet some actors get paid like rock stars. Hmmm. Here’s what Mark had to say about the whole Edward Norton story.

I’m a friend of Ed’s, and yeah, that wasn’t a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation’s Hamlet.

He’ll start his role as Bruce Banner in the winter. The Avengers will be out in theaters on May 4, 2012.
