Comic-Con 10: Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch Shows Character Posters and Bunny Mech Statues

Warner Bros. has announced a new movie by Zack Snyder, Sucker Punch, during Comic-Con. This will be Zack Snyder’s first movie original, which he co-wrote with Steve Shibuya. The story follows a young girl named Baby Doll who is trying to cope with an evil stepfather and escape lobotomy at a mental institution. She uses her imagination to escape reality, which also helps her to escape the mental institution.

The movie will showcase women who team up with Baby Doll. Check out these posters featuring the ladies of Sucker Punch including Disney star Vanessa Hudgens as Blondie, Abbie Cornish as Sweat Pea, Emily Browning (Lemony Snicket) as Baby Doll, Carla Gugino as Madam Gorski, Jena Malon as Rocket, and Jamie Chung as Amber.

Just from looking at these images and the statues at Comic-Con, it already looks epic! We’ve got anime influences like giant bunny mechs and schoolgirl samurai wielding swords and guns, and a stylish steam-punk World War II setting. Zack Snyder pretty much sums it up with this being like Alice in Wonderland with machine guns.

Another tidbit about the movie is how it will not be in 3D.

“It’s not going to be in 3-D,” Snyder told MTV News. “I wanted it to be in 3-D, and we talked a lot about it, and then we looked at a lot of tests. We looked at a lot of potential vendors that could turn the movie into 3-D, and in the end I just felt like it wasn’t conceived in 3-D like “Guardians” — because I have made a movie, “Legend of the Guardians,” which is conceived in 3-D, and it’s cool in 3-D.”

Expect a trailer soon to hit this Tuesday. Sucker Punch will be in theaters on March 25, 2011.
