Street Fighter X Tekken Debut

Earlier this month we reported there was a rumor that a possible Namco vs Capcom game was in the works. Well Capcom and Namco have finally done it and made it official. Street Fighter X Tekken was announced at this year’s San Diego Comic Con and is being created by Capcom. The game will feature characters from both the Street Fighter and Tekken series and done in the Street Fighter IV dressing with 3D visuals in a 2D perspective. But wait, theres more! Also announced was a game called Tekken X Street Fighter, which is currently in creation by Namco. This game will again feature characters from both series but will be done in the Tekken full 3D style. Both games will be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Street Fighter X Tekken will include Versus, Tag Team and Training Modes that, according to producer Yoshinori Ono, will “make the fighting experience more in-depth and enjoyable”. Also, Tekken characters will be keeping their “unique characteristics and signature moves.”

Here is what Yoshinori Ono had to say:

“This is history we’re making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn’t just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I’m going to give it my all.”

There is no release date set as of yet, but it seems as if Street Fighter X Tekken will hit stores before Tekken X Street Fighter. Til then, here is the debut trailer and some screenshots. Enjoy!
