3D Blu-rays Coming to Playstation 3 September 2010

While Microsoft is sitting on their butts scratching themselves to see how Sony is handling the 3D gaming market, Sony has gone ahead to release a new firmware update for the Playstation 3 to play 3D Blu-ray movies. This new firmware will be available to update in September 2010.

Mick Hocking, senior director of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, had this to say during a press event in London awhile back.

“In September this year, we’re launching another Firmware upgrade–and this one is going to upgrade the PS3 to support Blu-ray movies in 3D,”

Hocking predicts that the new 3D firmware will help increase sales for the PS3 once it hits. Now the question is, when will 3D television sets and glasses be cheaper?
