Dead Space Prequel Announced

Dead Space 2 isn’t expected to release until January 2011, but for those who can’t wait til then, you’re in luck. EA has announced Dead Space: Ignition, a prequel that takes place hours prior to Dead Space 2. Players will have to survive a Necromorph outbreak on a massive space station called “The Sprawl.” While this is going on, you will be able to witness firsthand how a disaster like this can occur. Ignition will include an “interactive comic-style” story with three unique hacking games, “Hardware Crack”, “Trace Route” and “System Override.” EA claims “each game will offer a fun and satisfying arcade experience that will challenge players with puzzles and twitch gameplay.” Ignition has multiple ways to survive the outbreak and will also have four different endings, each offering their own reward (i.e. exclusive suits, etc.) for use in Dead Space 2. EA has also stated that Ignition would be the first of many game extensions planned for the launch. Dead Space Ignition is set for release in the Fall on Xbox Live and Playstation Network.
