Maleficent 2, Frozen 2, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker headed to 4DX

4DX immerses moviegoers more into the movies by utilizing motion seats and external special effects. Imagine feeling the roar of Godzilla or seeing actual fog in the theater. CJ 4DPLEX has announced that more Disney films will be coming to 4DX including Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Ford v Ferrari, Frozen 2 and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In addition, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will also be getting the Screen X treatment, which gives you a 270-degree viewing experience by projecting the film to the side walls to really make you feel like you’re in the movie.

The Lion King and Aladdin in 4DX have been successful, and Disney has teamed up with CJ 4DPLEX to enhance the moviegoing experience for its upcoming films. Check out the films and their release dates for the rest of 2019.

  • Maleficent: Mistress of Evil – October 18 in 4DX & ScreenX
  • Ford v Ferrari – November 15 in 4DX
  • Frozen 2 – November 22 in 4DX
  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – December 20 in 4DX

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is the next film to be released in 4DX and Screen X, and it’ll be available worldwide on October 16th and nationwide on October 18th. The ScreenX format will be available in over 230 screens across 26 countries. 33 of those screens will be shown in the U.S. at Regal Cinemas, B&B Theatres, and CGV Cinemas. The 4DX version of the film will be available in over 675 screens across 65 countries.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is the sequel to the first live-action version of Sleeping Beauty and takes place five years after the events from the first film. Prince Phillip asks Aurora for her hand in marriage, and this has caused tension between Maleficent and Queen Ingrith, Phillip’s mother. Events will unfold that will have humans and creatures fighting for survival.

The film is directed by Joachim Rønning from a screenplay by Linda Woolverton, Noah Harpster, and Micah Fitzerman-Blue. It stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Conall, Sam Riley as Diaval, and Ed Skrein as Borra.
