Groundhog Day is a classic comedy starring Bill Murray where he gets stuck in a time loop, living the same day over and over again. Sony has teamed up with Tequila Works for a VR game that is set after the events of the film called Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son. It is now available on PSVR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Cosmos. And to mark the occasion, a new trailer has been released, which you can check out below.

We had the chance to check out a preview of the game, and you start off doing mundane things and getting a feel of the slice of life gameplay. With the VR headset and controllers, you will use your hands to check your phone, cook breakfast, and interact with all kinds of objects. Family drama will be present, and you’ll be able to make changes to events once you are back in the time loop.

As for the graphics, don’t expect anything groundbreaking since it’s stylized. The fun of the game is really about doing things differently once you have relived the experience. For example, you can transform yourself from a terrible guitarist to an excellent one and impress that special someone. And like the movie, you’ll learn to become a better person in the game.

Synopsis: Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son tells a modern-day, comedic story featuring puzzles and branching narrative gameplay. Players take on the role of Phil Connors Jr., the charming but arrogant son of the original film’s protagonist. Returning to his hometown of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Phil Jr. becomes trapped in a time loop just like his father before him. Players will solve puzzles, interact with new and familiar characters, and explore the town as they try to escape the time loop.

Tequila Works developed the game with Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and MWM Interactive (formerly MWM Immersive) producing.
