The Boys becomes one of Amazon’s most-watched original series

The Boys Amazon Series

The Boys on Amazon Prime Video gives viewers a different take on the superhero genre. What if the supers we adore are actually jackasses behind the public eye? In this world, the heroes aren’t perfect, and what we get is a show that’s bloody, vulgar, twisted and humorous. This has led to one of the best and popular series on Amazon.

The Boys is based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. Like the comic, the show is able to capture the mature content as long as it served the story. The show was already renewed for a second season before the first one even premiered, and showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural) is working on the story.

Like Netflix, Amazon doesn’t reveal its numbers. However, Amazon Studios Head Jennifer Salke announced that The Boys has surpassed their predictions.

“We are thrilled that The Boys have surpassed our predictions for viewing in its first two weeks, and has become one of our most-watched Amazon Original series by our Prime Video customers,” Jennifer Salke said. “This creates great momentum and excitement for us as we get ready for season two.”

Kripke also chimes in on how happy he is about the show’s reception.

“I’m so beyond thrilled with the response to Season 1. And mainly, it’s made me get my ass in gear and work even harder on Season 2,” Kripke said. “I don’t want Season 2 to go bigger, I want it to go deeper. A more intense, more insane, more wrenching, more character-driven season. It’s my one and only goal to make Season 2 even better than Season 1.”

Spoilers Ahead

The ending of season 1 had a huge cliffhanger with Billy (Karl Urban) finding out that Rebecca (Shantel VanSanten) is still alive. To add insult to injury, her kid turns out to be Homelander’s kid. Season 2 is going to be a gamechanger for Billy.
