Tom Hardy may have confirmed Andy Serkis as Venom sequel director

Venom

Venom made Sony a lot of money with $856 million, so of course, a sequel was inevitable. It was reported that three directors are in the running to direct it. The names include Travis Knight (Bumblebee), Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle). Tom Hardy, who starred in the first film as Eddie Brock and Venom, posted on his Instagram a photo of Serkis, which looks like he’s confirming that the motion-capture actor is indeed attached as the director.

Hardy posted a black and white image of Serkis with the flame and spade emoji on his Instagram account, which he later deleted. Did Sony narrow down the director’s list with Serkis as the clear winner? It looks like that may be the case. Perhaps Hardy jumped the gun, or maybe he made a mistake and Sony hasn’t finalized anything yet.

Another post surfaced from Hardy, revealing an image of a spade with crossbones. The spade is definitely something of significance since he used a spade emoji in the Serkis post.

Ruben Fleischer directed the first film, and he wasn’t able to return for the sequel due to scheduling conflicts with his other film, Zombieland: Double Tap, the sequel to Zombieland.

If Andy Serkis is directing the Venom sequel, will you be looking forward to the film? Let us know!
