Disney has released images from a photo shoot featuring the voice talent and their characters for the upcoming Disney remake of The Lion King. We get to see Donald Glover with Simba; Beyoncé Knowles-Carter with Nala; John Oliver, Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner with Zazu, Pumbaa and Timon; Chiwetel Ejiofor with Scar; Alfre Woodard with Sarabi; Eric André, Florence Kasumba and Keegan-Michael Key with hyenas Azizi, Shenzi and Kamari; and Shahadi Wright Joseph and JD McCrary with Young Nala and Young Simba. However, why isn’t there a picture of James Earl Jones as Mufasa?

In addition to the photos, Disney has also released a new featurette containing new scenes from the film and a behind-the-scenes look at the voice recording sessions. Director Jon Favreau and the cast members also talk about the film.

Synopsis: Disney’s “The Lion King,” directed by Jon Favreau, journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The film is directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. It’s produced by Jon Favreau, Jeffrey Silver and Karen Gilchrist. Voice talent includes Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, John Kani, John Oliver, Florence Kasumba, Eric André, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary, Shahadi Wright Joseph, with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones.

The Lion King hits theaters on July 19, 2019.
