The Lion King character posters

Disney has been raking in the money with its live-action remakes, especially with Aladdin topping the box office this past weekend. Soon fans can look forward to the next “live-action” or photorealistic remake with The Lion King. All of the beloved characters will be in the film including Simba, Rafiki, Timon, Pumbaa, Nala, Mufasa, and more. Disney has also released a new TV spot. You can check them both out below.

Synopsis: The Lion King journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.

The film is directed by Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book, Iron Man) from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. It features the voice of Donald Glover (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Austin Powers in Goldmember) as Nala, James Earl Jones (Star Wars) as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) as Scar, Seth Rogen (The Long Shot) as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Alfre Woodard (Captain America: Civil War) as Sarabi, John Kani as Rafiki, John Oliver as Zazu, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric André as Azizi, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, JD McCrary as Young Simba and Shahadi Wright Joseph as young Nala.

Disney’s The Lion King hits theatres on July 19, 2019.
