The Jurassic World franchise has become a huge hit for Universal Studios with the first film grossing $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office and $652 million domestically. Its sequel, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, also hit it big and made $1.3 billion worldwide. With the Jurassic World brand being very popular, it’s no surprise to see that Universal Studios Hollywood is updating Jurassic Park – The Ride by replacing it with Jurassic World – The Ride.

Universal Studios recently released a new TV spot, “It Just Got Real,” featuring the Tyrannosaurus rex as she wreaks havoc across the studio backlot and Universal Studios Hollywood.

So what can attendees expect for the updated ride? In addition to the reimagined and contemporary aesthetic, it will feature a new story set in the world of Jurassic World starting on that fateful day of the Indominus rex’s escape. New dinosaurs have been added from the film like the deadly Indominus rex and the Mosasaurus, which will be swimming in a three million gallon Aquarium Observatory tank behind a glass. The queue line will be interactive thanks to videos featuring facts and information about the dinosaurs featured in the ride.

The main component of the ride will still be similar to Jurassic Park – The Ride where a group will embark on an expedition via a raft while being able to take in the dinosaur sights like the Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Velociraptors and Dilophosaurus. The 84-foot waterfall drop is still intact with the Tyrannosaurus rex, but this time she will be going up against one of the new killer dinosaurs.

Near the ride will be an area called “Raptor Encounter” where guests can interact with Blue, the lovable velociraptor from Jurassic World. Kids of all ages can play in the interactive and educational “Dino Play” area including excavating giant dinosaur fossils.

The team behind the updated ride includes Universal Creative, ILM, Universal Pictures, Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall.

Jurassic World – The Ride opens in the summer of 2019 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
