Ever since superheroes have existed, fans have been comparing different superheroes to see who’s stronger, faster or better? Who would win in a fight, Namor or Aquaman? Is Tony Stark smarter than Bruce Wayne? Is Squirrel Girl capable of taking down Thanos? There’s been a lot of debate, and some of them have even been answered in the comics. With Captain Marvel coming to theaters this week, this one particular question comes to mind: Can Captain Marvel beat Superman? Well, Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel, believes her character can.

Brie Larson did a segment for Wired where she answers Google’s most searched questions. She holds up a board filled with questions, and one revealed: Can Captain Marvel beat Superman?

“I can’t believe you have to Google that, duh,” Larson responded.

The reason why these two comic book superheroes have been pitted against each other many times by comic book fans is that they both have similar powers including flight and super strength and have been the leaders of their respective team.

Presales for Captain Marvel have been doing really well since it’s able to beat Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Deadpool. It also became the top presales film for Fandango after Avengers: Infinity War. However, the movie has been a hot topic especially with Brie Larson’s comment about there being too many white men at press events. This led to angry fans voicing their frustrations on Rotten Tomatoes. The aggregated review site, in turn, took out the audience comments section until the movie is actually released.

Synopsis: The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and written by Boden, Fleck, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Jac Schaeffer from a story by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Joe Shrapnel, and Anna Waterhouse. It stars Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Lee Pace as Ronan, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Algenis Perez Soto as Att-Lass, Rune Temte as Bron-Char, McKenna Grace as young Carol Danvers, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Jude Law as the Starforce Commander.

Captain Marvel will be released in theaters on March 8, 2019.
