Possible laugh from Joaquin Phoenix on the Joker set

Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker

Joaquin Phoenix is playing the Clown Prince of Crime in the upcoming standalone Joker film from director Todd Phillips, and on-set photos have leaked for the movie during its filming. Warner Bros then proceeded to release its own camera test video featuring the actor in his Joker makeup to get fans excited. Now a new leaked set video has surfaced, and if you listen carefully, you’ll hear a creepy laugh. The video says that the laugh is coming from Phoenix, and it can be heard in the background.

If the video is real, then here’s your first taste of the Joker laugh. Some people have mentioned that the laugh reminds them of Elmo. Of course, the audio isn’t very clear, so the final version of the laugh may be even creepier.

The Joker film has already finished principal photography with Todd Phillips as the director and writer and Scott Silver attached as the writer. It stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck / Joker, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Dante Pereira-Olson, Marc Maron, Shea Whigham, and Bryan Callen.

The film hits theaters on October 4, 2019.

The Joker is Batman’s most popular villain and has appeared in comic books, television, video games and movies. His first appeared in Batman #1 (April 25, 1940). Audiences can catch a version of the Joker on Gotham, which is currently airing on Fox. In a recent episode, fans were treated to another origin story for the Joker. Since the show isn’t allowed to use his name, the show gave him the name of Jeremiah Valeska, who’s played by Cameron Monaghan. The young actor joins a list of others who have portrayed the villain including Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill, Heath Ledger and Jared Leto. It’ll be interesting to see what Joaquin Phoenix has in store.
