Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy rumored to cater to young crowd

Rian Johnson Star Wars

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi was received with mixed reactions from fans, but that’s not stopping Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy from having faith in the director. She’s pretty confident in his ability that he gets to spearhead a new Star Wars trilogy. Now we have a rumor that it’s going to be targeted towards the younger audiences.

In the latest “Now This Is Podcasting!” episode from the reliable fan site Making Star Wars, a source says that Johnson is planning to have his new trilogy aimed for the young crowd, with host Jason thinking it’s going to be rated G. This seems like an exaggeration, but this is Disney we’re talking about. The company may want to have one trilogy targeting the younger crowd. In the previous films from George Lucas, he introduced characters that would cater to a young crowd including Jar Jar Binks.

With the rumor of Johnson’s trilogy catering to a younger crowd, what will that mean for the other Star Wars series from Game of Thrones’ David Benioff and D. B. Weiss? Game of Thrones is a violent and dark show, but then again, Johnson’s previous films have been dark. We are guessing that Kennedy brought the duo on board due to their world-building ability. Perhaps Kennedy should also bring George R. R. Martin on board to help write. It’s not like we’ll see the next A Song of Ice and Fire book coming soon. The gang says that Johnson’s new films were originally supposed to be released before the Benioff and Weiss’ trilogy, but they speculate that the box office disappointment of Solo: A Star Wars Story influenced the shifting of plans.

For now, fans can get ready for the conclusion of the current trilogy when Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20, 2019. Principal photography has wrapped recently with director J.J. Abrams sharing an on-set photo of Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) hugging.
