Walt Disney Pictures has released a new trailer for the live-action Aladdin film showing us more of Aladdin, Jafar, Jasmine and Genie. Previously, a photo of Will Smith as the Genie was seen, and people were disappointed because they thought he was going to ditch the blue look made popular by the animated film. Smith has chimed in to reassure fans that it wasn’t the case. He was excited to reveal his version of Genie in the newly released trailer.

“Told y’all I was gon’ be Blue!! ?‍♂️ Y’all need to trust me more often! ? #aladdin,” said Smith via his Instagram account.

Well, as it turns out, there is no pleasing people when you have taken a beloved and classic animated film since there are so many ways for it to turns sideways. At the time of this writing, the video on YouTube has received 37,000 dislikes from a total of 66,000 votes. That means 56% of people who voted didn’t like the newly released trailer. Many were shocked by the look of Will Smith’s Genie, and others felt that the new Jafar sounded soft compared to the twisted and dark voice of the animated version.

Here are a few negative reactions for the “Special Look” trailer:

“This looks worse than those fake trailers xD,” said a commenter.

Another made a joke referencing Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War.

“Thanos is currently trying to snap this movie out of existence.”

One commenter talked about how Will Smith is always playing himself.

“How come whenever will smith tries to portray a character he just turns them into himself.”

The Twitter crowd also ripped the trailer to pieces. One even compared it to a small side character in Star Wars.
