E3 2018: Return to Russia with Metro Exodus

In 2010, developer 4A Games released its first-person shooter survival horror Metro: 2033, which was soon then followed by Metro: Last Light in 2013. Since then, it’s been a little bit quiet in terms of a new Metro game, so during the Xbox press conference at E3, it was a big surprise that 4A Games was announcing the continuation of the story of Metro with a brand new sequel, called Metro Exodus.

The trailer starts with a short speech about survival, as we see the vast wasteland of Russia. Players are going to continue to play as the main protagonist, Artyom, as he makes his way through the barren landscape fighting off humans and mutants, alike. Based on the trailer, however, it seems like there will be a lot of gunplay in Exodus with a strong emphasis on weapon customization.

It’s been awhile between Metro games, but the proof is there that 4A Games wanted to really take their time with Exodus. The Russian landscape -devastated by a nuclear war- looks beautiful! Skies are drab and ominous, buildings and vehicles are decrepit and dilapidated. Even the sewers and city tunnels are dark, murky and dirty.

Metro Exodus is slated for release on February 22, 2019.  Check out the trailer below!
