E3 2018: Fallout 76 will be the franchise’s first online multiplayer game

Fallout 76 - E3 2018

The biggest surprise leading up to this year’s E3 conference is the revelation of Fallout 76. Many fans were curious as to why we’re getting a new Fallout game instead of a new Elder Scrolls game. After all, Fallout 4 came out in 2015 while the last Elder Scrolls came out in 2011. Nevertheless, Bethesda revealed the very first trailer for Fallout 76 during Microsoft’s E3 conference this year. The game looks to be a brand new Fallout experience that’s “four times bigger than Fallout 4” according to Todd Howard. But the game will take place entirely online.

In Fallout 76, you’ll play as one of the first people to emerge from Vault 76 tasked with trying to tame an untamed West Virginian wasteland. Unlike other Fallout games, Vault 76 isn’t one of those questionable vaults. Not to mention, the game will take place prior to the events of all the existing Fallout games. According to Todd Howard, 16 times more detail than Fallout 4. In addition, the game will feature some brand new locations and creatures.

The world won’t have hundreds of players in 76 because as Howard put it “it’s the apocalypse, it’s not an amusement park.” As a result, you’ll only see maybe a dozen players. Also, you won’t lose any character progression when you die in the game. On top of all that, you can build C.A.M.P.s with your friends to rebuild civilization. But similar to Fallout 4, enemy creatures can come in and destroy your C.A.M.P.s if you’re not careful.

Multiple nuclear missile sites on the map and “do whatever you want with them.” It won’t be easy to activate these nuclear missile silos though. You’re going to have to find some nuclear missile launch codes in order to launch the missiles. However, launching the missiles will cause some consequences to your world. So be careful what you do with these codes.

Bethesda also announced that there will be a B.E.T.A. or Break-It Early Test Application to iron out any bugs in the game. After all, Bethesda is notorious for their bugs.

And if that wasn’t enough, Bethesda also revealed that there will be a collector’s edition for the game. Not only will you get a glow-in-the-dark map but you’ll get collectible figurines to place on the map as well. But the biggest thing that you can get from the collector’s edition is a working power armor helmet.

Fallout 76 will come out on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14th.
