Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2018 trailer shows a vibrant and dangerous city

During the Xbox E3 Briefing, Xbox head Phil Spencer was about to close out, only to be interrupted by a hack on the screen and throughout the auditorium at the Microsoft Theater. Archive’s Bullet can be heard in the background, with hints of developer CD Projekt RED all over the hacking screen. The smoke and mirror turned out to be the reveal of a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming sci-fi open world RPG from the team behind The Witcher series. The cinematic trailer reveals a completely different vibe from the teaser trailer that was released in 2013.

Can you believe that it’s been 5 years since gamers first saw the teaser trailer featuring a dangerous cybernetic woman? With the new trailer, we can hear the narrator talking about how Night City, California, is very dangerous, yet somehow people still want to move and live there. There are many things to take in, but the overall theme is that it’s a city of violence. It’s filled with humans and cyborgs, and it’s very reminiscent¬†of a Grand Theft Auto trailer with a lot of jump cuts to the many different lives in the city.

What we know so far is that the character name is V, a cyberpunk, and players can customize him or her. The classes will be different from what you’re used to; for example, you can choose to become a journalist, rock star, or executive.

The game is based on the tabletop game, Cyberpunk 2020, by Mike Pondsmith, and it featured colorful and vibrant characters and setting. The trailer has definitely captured that tone.
