John Marston is back in new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games has released a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, and so far the game company is doing a great job of teasing the fans. Everything is still very vague, but there is a glimpse of the story and its theme, and we even get to see the main protagonist from the first game, John Marston.

We do know that the game is now set in 1899 (Red Dead Redemption took place in 1911), and the trailer’s overall theme is about how the Wild West is dying out. Instead of focusing on the game’s main character, Arthur Morgan, we are shown a bunch of different characters without context, so it seems very random. One gang member talks about how being the sons of Dutch is like a family, and another says, “You will never change. I know that.” It’s likely suggesting that Morgan is trying to escape the life of an outlaw, but he is torn since he has been raised by Dutch and the gang.

Check out the new trailer below.

The game’s synopsis tells of how Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee after a failed robbery in the town of Blackwater. Now they must rob, steal and fight for their survival while federal agents and bounty hunters are tracking them down. Of course, what’s a story without internal drama? Morgan will have to figure out if he wants to stay in the gang or leave for a better life. Sounds just like John Marston’s life.

And speaking of Marston, he appears at the 1:39 mark, and he is seen being held hostage with a knife to his face.

Of course, the trailer shows in-game graphics, but so far we haven’t witnessed any actual gameplay footage yet. Well, we do have many months for Rockstar to tease us, and I’m hoping Rockstar would show something new for E3. (Although I’m not counting on it.)

Other than that, one can appreciate what they can see including a lively town filled with the townsfolk, horses & wagons, and people surrounding a campfire with dramatic lighting.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available on October 26, 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
