Fahrenheit 451 trailer starring Michael B Jordan and Michael Shannon coming to HBO

“Have you ever seen a physical book before? Do you want to know what is inside? Insanity. Chaos.”

Based on the 1953 dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451 is coming to HBO this May. When it was first announced in 2016 that HBO had obtained the rights to the book as a television movie, we were excited to see how screenwriter and director Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes) would interpret this beloved book.

Fahrenheit 451 is set in the future where media is an opiate, history is rewritten, and “firemen” must burn books to keep the system of power intact. Michael B Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who struggles with his role as a “fireman” burning books. Michael Shannon plays his mentor, Captain Beatty.

The first trailer was released today and looks pretty interesting, especially when you think about how it relates to how news is being delivered today. In the trailer, we see a brainwashed Montag ready to serve Beatty for the good of the government. We see Montag training young recruits to destroy books for it contains nothing but chaos, but as the trailer goes on, Montag begins to unravel the truth.

Written and directed by Bahrani, Jordan will also serve as the film’s executive producer. Sofia Boutella, Martin Donovan, Laura Harrier, Lilly Singh, Keir Dullea, Jane Moffatt and Grace Lynn Kung also star.

Fahrenheit 451 will premiere in May on HBO.
