This week the Overwatch League team, the Shanghai Dragons, signed 4 new players to their roster, most notably Kim “Geguri” Se-Yeon. Geguri is most known for her skills with Zarya. She was so good that back in 2016, she was accused of cheating. Geguri then went on to live-stream a match to prove that she was not cheating and ended performing much better than normal. From there she has only been improving to the point of attaining pro-status. Geguri joins the team alongside He “Sky” Junjian, Lee “Fearless” Eui-Seok and Chon “Ado” Gi-Hyeon.

Each new player has been signed in hopes of improving several of the issues that have been plaguing the team since the start of the season. The Dragons have had a miserable 0-10 record, and watching some of their matches, you could feel that the team morale was down. With the end of stage one of Overwatch League, teams are now free to sign players to use in stage two of the league. With stage one wrapping up this week and stage two starting on February 21, many teams are taking this time to improve their rosters and internally work on issues their teams might be facing.

Regardless, Geguri being added to the Dragons roster is a huge step for the Overwatch League and eSports in general. The league received a lot of criticism for being exclusively male considering how large the fanbase is and the number of talented players there are. With the addition of 4 new players, the is going to shift in response to the flow of new talent and with a female player headlining the roster.
