First photo from ‘Venom’ film hits the internet

It’s been one heck of a ride for both Marvel and Sony this year. Between the successful reception to the debut of Spider-Man: Homecoming, to the odd reaction of Kevin Feige’s face after hearing Sony’s Amy Pascal talk about Spider-Man spin-offs, this year has been a doozy. One of the good things to have come about since the duel companies began cooperating has been the announcement of the Venom spin-off, starring Tom Hardy. Now we have our first glimpse of the creative team at work.

The first photo has hit the internet via – as most photos like this do – Twitter. The official page for the film has released its first set photo, announcing that today has been “Day 1” of production! Check it out:

Even though it doesn’t look like much, the fact that this film is officially in production means a lot to fans. The last time we saw Venom on the big screen, he was played by Topher Grace. You know, Eric Forman? Yeah, that guy was our last glimpse at Venom on the big screen. Let that sink in for a bit.

Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and Reid Scott are also a part of the cast in the comic book spin-off. Ruben Fleischer is set to direct, while the film will be penned by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. The film is set to open October 5, 2018.
