Netflix’s 1922 trailer is quite haunting

Netflix dropped the trailer to the new supernatural horror drama 1922 today, just in time for Halloween. The film, set to release on October 20th, is based on the short story by Stephen King. It tells the story of  Wilfred James, a farmer who is happy with his life in Nebraska until his wife

The film, set to release on October 20th, is based on the short story by Stephen King. It tells the story of  Wilfred James (Thomas James), a farmer who is happy with his life in Nebraska until his wife, Arlette (Molly Parker), threatens to leave him to live in the city. When James refuses to move, she asks for a divorce and plans to take their son with her. In what looked like a period drama, the tone changes to an ominous one with James growing darker and reveals that in 1922, he murdered his wife. Afterward, we begin to see James and his son’s perfect life on the farm deteriorate by a rat infestation and what looks to be the ghost of Arlette.

 

1922 was directed and adapted by Zak Hilditch and also stars Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian d’Arcy James and Neal McDonough.

King’s story 1922 appeared in the 2010 collection, Full Dark, No Stars.

1922 premieres October 20th, only on Netflix.

Life is rarely fair.

1922 is based on Stephen King’s 131-page story telling of a man’s confession of his wife’s murder. The tale is told from from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story’s unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. But after he buries her body, he finds himself terrorized by rats and, as his life begins to unravel, becomes convinced his wife is haunting him.
