Murder on the Orient Express trailer stops dead in its tracks

Twentieth Century Fox released the second trailer to the anticipated Kenneth Branagh mystery drama Murder on the Orient Express, based on the novel by Agatha Christie.

The intense two-minute trailer revealed Johnny Depp’s character, gangster Ratchett, who becomes the murder victim. Detective Hercule Poirot (Branagh) is determined to solve the murder mystery in which everyone is a suspect because it seems that no one liked Ratchett.

The trailer begins with Ratchett introducing himself to the famous detective, “Avenger of the innocent – is that what they call you in the papers?” Poirot inquisitively responds, “And you are innocent?”. Ratchett laughs and tells him, “You’re fun.” Afterward, Rachett is murdered and Poirot begins his work by questioning everyone. Everyone begins to panic. It doesn’t help that Imagine Dragon’s Believer is played over the trailer to give the trailer more intensity and paranoia.

The star-studded cast includes Dame Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad, Willem Dafoe, Leslie Odom Jr., Tom Bateman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Derek Jacobi, Marwan Kenzari, Olivia Colman, Lucy Boynton and Sergei Polunin.

Murder on the Orient Express is an adaptation of the 1934 Agatha Christie novel of the same name. There have been two previous film adaptations – one in 1974 starring Albert Finney, Ingrid Bergman, Lauren Becall, and Sean Connery and a made-for-TV movie in 2001 with Alfred Molina.

Murder on the Orient Express will open in theaters on November 10.
