Bungie removes Destiny 2 armor due to meme associated with hate group

Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is now available, and it has come to the attention of Bungie that its armor in the game looks similar to a banner belonging to a fictional country of Kekistan. The company has removed the armor since it didn’t want to associate it with the fictional country. So why remove it?

“It’s come to our attention that a gauntlet in Destiny 2 shares elements with a hate symbol,” said Bungie on its Twitter account. “It is not intentional. We are removing it.”

The company further added, “Our deepest apologies. This does NOT represent our values, and we are working quickly to correct this. We renounce hate in all forms.”

The armor in question is the Road Complex AA 1 Gauntlet. It’s green with a symbol on the side that looks like the German Nazi-inspired Kekistan flag. Check out the flag below:

As you can see, it is inspired by the Nazi flag, with the swastika being replaced by the Kek logo and the red replaced by green. The 4chan logo is seen on the top-left, and the fictional country was created by 4chan’s /pol/ board users. The banner was seen at a Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virgina, last month, where a woman was killed and more than a dozen was injured by a white supremacist.

Furthermore, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons said, “At Bungie, our company values place the highest emphasis on inclusion of all people and respect for all who work with us or play our games.”
