Geek Fuel’s Monthly Mystery Box: August 2017 review – Geeky Goodness

It’s that time of the month again – GEEK FUEL TIME! Get your geek swag engines ready because we got the next box ready to open!

Get your geek swag engines ready because we got the next box ready to open!

Like in our previous review, Geek Fuel is a geek box filled with random fandom. Each box is not specialized with a theme. You get all the fandoms – randomly. So if you’re the type to like a variety of geekdom, then this is the box for you. We were sent this month’s box and we can’t wait to show you.

The box has a new design!!! I love the cartoon of the robot icon around it. GeekFuel is moving on up with their geekiness and we live for it!

When we opened the box, there is the monthly magazine, which is filled with interesting articles – a dedication to the late director George Romero, the new, yet old, Nintendo console, Game of Thrones theories, and some information on the awesome swag we’re about to check out.

So, after the magazine, the first item was this huge Dorbz figure by Funko. The XL figure, which we got Guardians of the Galaxy’s Rocket Racoon, is an adorable vinyl collectable. There are six XL figures that you could possibly get, including Rocket Racoon, Groot, Big Daddy, Robin, Ant-Man, and Stay Puff the Marshmellow Man. They stand at 6 inches tall and are adorable.

The next thing we pulled out was the Geek Fuel exclusive pin – Epic Enamels. This month’s theme was DC’s The Justice League. These vintage looking pins of the heroes as robotic vehicles are exclusive to just Geek Fuel and are of great quality. They are pretty sturdy too on my geek jacket. This pin alone is worth the price of the box. Exclusivity is everything!!!

The next item I pulled out was the Back to the Future Luggage tag!

The tag is made of rubber and the size of a credit card. This is perfect for the casual geek who travels! Place this on your luggage when you travel… Just travel. Unless you are a time traveller, then even better. The tag is made to look like the license plate on the Delorean.

Like every Geek Fuel box, we get to try out a new Steam game! This time, it’s Spacejacked!!!

Developed by Rotten Mage, Spacejacked is an arcade tower-defense game and it looks so ADORABLE! I’m sorry, but that’s how I describe things I like.

Official Spacejacked synopsis:

Build. Shoot. Survive invasion by filthy alien scum! Spacejacked is a super fast-paced ARCADE TOWER-DEFENSE. Play as Dave, a lone technician tasked with protecting his spaceship from being overrun by aliens while it prepares to warp into hyperspace. Players who seek to experience a blend of action shooter and tower defense will enjoy this game! Coming to Windows, OS X and Linux in February 2016.

I actually played a little bit of it and it’s pretty fun. It kept my attention, which says a lot because I have a short attention span.

Finally, we get to the monthly shirt and I’m living for this. IT’S A WONDER WOMAN SHIRT!!!

Not only any Wonder Woman shirt… it’s GAL GADOT’s Wonder Woman! The shirt is SO soft. I’m really happy it’s not the stiff kinds of shirts because I can’t wear those. This shirt is cotton-based, so make sure you order accordingly (for shrinkage). It’s soft and comfortable. Plus, black is slimming on a lot of people! This is fantastic.

Of course, we get a card with all the information on what you received:

Overall, this month’s box is WAY over the expectations and over the $50 price it guarantees. The Dorbz XL box itself is $20-25, the pin will set you back over $30 on eBay, and the Wonder Woman shirt is just hard to find. So, I’m pretty happy with this box.

Geek Fuel’s August 2017 box is still available on GeekFuel.com. The items in this box are worth $50+ (especially with the exclusivity on those pins). For one box, it’ll cost you $18.90 (+ $6 S&H). If you love these boxes, you could subscribe to their other plans and save some money as well. If you do their 6 month or year plan, you’d get a bonus gift!

Sign up here and be ready to receive some geeky goodness! Hurry up before this box ends!
